Most recently, she has been working on images of the Judean Desert, which for her symbolizes a place of personal solitude and connection with the creator. The artist believes that her paintings are an “anti thesis” for modern life that is full of contradictions. A natural landscape acts as an anchor of silence and solitude in the face of media frenzy, information technology, and a reality that offers little security. Shir also sees landscapes as reflections of the human spirit, whose flux is echoed in the ever-changing state of nature.
Extra Shir has also written several articles about art that can be read at: http://www.articles.co.il/author/1970 |
